It's not as far as you'd thought to get to the curved driveway.
You look up at the house doubtfully. Without any light from the windows, it doesn't seem like anyone is home. But, just then the rain starts to worsen, and even standing under the overhang from the roof is better than being battered to death by the elements, so you make a quick run for the front porch. The landing is slick from the rain, and you lose all traction as you partially slide, but mainly crash through the front door. It immediately gives way, and now you're cold, wet, and a little damaged, splayed out on the tiled floor of an aging grand foyer.
You groan, and clutch your leg. Pulling up one pant leg, you can see you've gashed your knee on the threshold. Blood and water pooling on the floor around you, you call out into the darkness. A crash like that should have woken the dead...
"Hello?" It echoes into the house.
"Anyone home?" You look around, your eyes adjusting to the dim interior. Where is your flashlight? You seem to have dropped it during your grand entrance. "My car broke down, and I slipped on your doorstep. It's pretty slick with the rainstorm going."
You wander farther into the house, the entrance opening up to a large staircase on the left and a doorway to more of the first floor on the right. "Anyone here?" You stop to listen, and from upstairs you hear what is maybe a faint rustling.
Do you walk towards it, or do you continue exploring the first floor looking for a bath towel and maybe a cup of coffee?
