"911 - What's your emergency?" She's cold, but not completely impersonal.
"Hello? I'm unsure of my address, but I was on I5, and my car broke down. I'm somewhere South of Eugene, headed Nor-" the buzzing of a disconnected line, a sharp click, and vast nothingness suddenly cuts between you and help.
"Who are you?!" Demands a furious voice behind you. Spinning around, you're confronted by a middle-aged man, brandishing an axe. The blade gleams in the low light, as it arcs away from you.
"My car broke down and I'm looking for help," you scream, as he swings the axe at your head. Ducking, you run to the far side of the room, wrenching open the door. But, it reveals no hallway. Just a steep staircase up to what must be an attic space.
Do you run up the stairs? There must be something in the attic you can use to defend yourself! Or do you run at the axe man, taking your chances with the blade, but knowing that downstairs is the only real way out of the house?
